What is a driver’s licence card number?

Your driver’s licence card number serves as a unique identifier that is updated whenever your licence is re-issued. It is important to note that your card number is distinct from your licence number. While your licence number identifies you as an individual, the card number is primarily used to verify that you possess the most current version of the card. In the past, the card number was not utilized for verification purposes, but this has changed, following each state’s specific timeline.

Where is my card number located?

Every active and non-expired driver’s licence card across all states contains a printed card number. The specific location of the card number field may vary depending on the jurisdiction, and for NT driver’s licences, it could differ based on the date of issuance.
